Primary Areas of Practice

Anxiety

The world can feel like a very scary place without good skills to navigate daily challenges and recurring stressors. Counseling intervention can promote improved stress management through skills-building (i.e. mindfulness training, grounding, reality-checking, etc.), thought restructuring, and improved personal insight. Please inquire below if you’ve been feeling anxious and can’t seem to find how to let go and relax.

Depressive symptoms

Everyone experiences sadness and may feel depressed from time to time. If you feel like you’ve been experiencing a depressed mood and can’t seem to escape it, please make an inquiry below or contact us by phone. Some symptoms of depression include sadness, emptiness and hopelessness. By working to make some changes in thoughts and behaviors, you could see notable positive changes.

Trauma and Stress Reactions

The fear one can experience after a stressful or traumatic experience can impact nearly every facet of their daily life. Learning how to contain these recurring symptoms, process the experience, and ultimately reach a place of acceptance can allow for improved socialization, daily functioning, comfort, and even sleep. Please consider making an inquiry if you feel you may be experiencing symptoms related to a life trauma.

Identity and value formation

Knowing who you are and having confidence presenting that to the world can take a considerable amount of courage. As humans, we may feel quite internally conflicted if we are not living in accordance to our values. If you feel like putting some effort into self-discovery and would like some guidance in the process, please submit an inquiry below.

Impulse regulation and recovery maintenance

The inability to stop yourself in your tracks and think through a situation before acting can lead to a lot of problems. Gaining a better connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can help to understand our internal motivations. This could be quite beneficial in the maintenance phase of addiction. If you find you may need help slowing down your thoughts to reduce impulsive decision making, please complete an inquiry below.

Perfectionism is a twenty-TON shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing THAT’S really preventing us from taking flight.

Two Mountains…

In Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, it is said that both the client and therapist are climbing their own mountains. From where the therapist is on the mountain, they can see some of the obstacles on the client’s mountain that the client may not be able to see. New routes in thinking and navigating can be discovered. Are you prepared to take the journey?
